The company:
ITM is New Zealand’s largest group of independent timber, hardware and building material merchants. Established in 1991 as a co-operative, ITM has 96 independently owned stores and 27 frame and truss manufacturing plants from the Far North to Invercargill, no other building trade merchant covers the country like ITM. The Reporting and Insights Analyst role is based at ITM’s Support Office, which is in Albany on Auckland’s North Shore.
The opportunity:
As part of the Data & Insights Enhancement Program, the core purpose of the Reporting and Insights Analyst is to support the development and optimisation of the ITM Reporting Framework, from current state into future state. Including:

Establishing a foundational reporting framework: by understanding and converting immediate business reporting requirements into user friendly, storytelling reports, data visualisations and informative dashboards, using existing data sources, Excel and Power BI.

Supporting the design, building, and embedding of reporting processes into the Team to deliver high quality business insights to support the business in making key decisions.

Providing reporting support and cross-training to the team.

Assisting with building the framework for future state reporting and insights requirements, by providing inputs and recommendations to the design and development of the data models, data warehouse, data visualisations and dashboard developments. This will be achieved by working across the systems development lifecycle from discovery, requirements, design, development, testing, implementation, and ongoing support whilst using your proven communication skills to build strong working relationships.
The successful candidate:
We are seeking someone with strong data visualisation skills allied with an analytical, agile mindset and a strong eye for detail. Your technical skill-set will ideally include:

Advanced Excel (nested formulas, pivot tables, lookups, macros) with ability in analysis and lateral thinking

Intermediate Power BI skillsets, with experience in using Power Query, report, and dashboard design

Experience with other data visualisation tools such as Qlik or Tableau would be useful

Previous experience in a Retail or Trade business would be desirable

Experience of Product and Supplier Master Data, in a high-volume, customer-focused organisation

Good knowledge of data models, databases, data integrity and maintaining data standards

Experience with an ERP Inventory system, ideally NetSuite
