About the Role:
This position provides technical expertise to desktop and server infrastructure and end- client computing, and the focus is on implementation and support of the infrastructure and application platforms.
As part of the Team
- Installing and maintaining the operation system on relevant platforms,
- managing upgrades of the operation system software and managing
- patches to the operating system
- Network / Technical fault analysis, troubleshooting and problem resolution
- Being the interface between vendors and the customer regarding support
- for resolution of infrastructure problems
- Implementing solutions, including new or enhanced systems, technology or infrastructure
- Using monitoring tools to ensure measure and investigate systems
- Ensuring all relevant documentation is reviewed on a regular basis and updated as and when required
- Creating technical documentation e.g. ‘as built’
- Performing capacity analysis on existing systems and recommending
- system expansion or other appropriate solutions
- Accurate and timely logging of activity and
- This position may require the incumbent to travel from time to time in the course of duties.
About you:
- A relevant tertiary qualification (eg Computer Science or Computer Engineering).
- At least 5 years IT industry experience.
- Technical involvement in large scale projects.
- High quality output and timely delivery.
- Technical writing and documentation to a high standard.
- A critical thinker who can demonstrate problem solving and
- decision-making skills and articulate the process used.
Proficiency across:
- Networking; LAN, WAN, Wireless and Perimeter
- core Microsoft technologies (AD, Printing, DHCP, DNS)
- Cloud technologies (Office365, Exchange Online, Azure and AWS)
- Virtualisation technologies (eg VMWare).
- Storage technologies (SAN, DAS, NAS)
- Application delivery e.g. RDS and Citrix Xen Desktop 7.x
- Data protection, backup and recovery
- Core Application e.g MS Exchange, SQL
- Platform monitoring and management e.g. SCCM and SCOM
- Windows deployment and patching
- PowerShell scripting
- SharePoint and Skype for Business knowledge would be beneficial
- Previous involvement in infrastructure projects, including replacement or upgrade of infrastructure components.
- An excellent understanding of Network connectivity between desktop, server and network hardware, as well as functioning across a distributed environment
- Fortinet skills (NSE3 / NSE4)
