Our client is a well recognised organisation in Tauranga. Its strategy and vision is all about engaging with the community; from business to the wider local community. As part of the vision reset, the community is at the heart of every interaction.

Our search is to identify two Strategic Community Relations Advisors. Reporting to the Community Relations Manager this role has key responsibility for providing strategic advice and support for cross organisational communication and engagement needs. You will be involved in directing and guiding project, service and activity leaders to achieve outcomes that focus on the community at the heart. Building relationships that connect the community to the organisation.

Critical to your success will be:

  • Lead a community centred approach through developing communication and engagement plans in conjunction with the client that demonstrate connectiveness.
  • Provide direction, guidance and problem solving to internal clients on community matters.
  • Leverage your experience, insights and access knowledge to ensure that all stakeholders and communities of interest are prioritised in the planning.
  • Train and develop the team to build capacity.
  • Develop proactive media relations (traditional & social).
  • Coordinate appropriate and timely media responses.
  • Building understanding and awareness about the value of the organisation and what it delivers.
  • Actively establish internal and external relationships including key stakeholders, internal and external.
  • Establish community panels.

Critical Competencies for selection will include:

  • A degree/Qualification in Communications or Engagement or a related field.
  • Several years experience at a senior level in a relevant field.
  • Demonstrated capability and proven experience in advising on multiple projects and diversity group including iwi.
  • A high standard of written & verbal communication skills across multiple stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinking – identifies on the big picture.
  • Excellent relationship building and influencing skills, proven ability to work with a wide variety of stakeholders.
