Tenancy Services Advisor – Partnering with Wesley Community Action

  • Lower Hutt
  • Full‑time, Permanent
  • $75,000–$85,000

We’re proud to be partnering with Wesley Community Action (WCA) to find a values‑driven Tenancy Services Advisor who cares about people, community, and making housing a foundation for wellbeing.

This role blends relationship‑building with practical tenancy mahi. You’ll support individuals and whānau to sustain safe, warm homes, while helping Wesley uphold its responsibilities as a social landlord grounded in kaupapa Te Tiriti.

You don’t need prior housing or tenancy experience to thrive here. If you bring sound judgement, people skills, and professionalism…. whether you’ve worked in hospitality, customer service, or community‑facing roles, Wesley is committed to growing and teaching the right person.

Why this role matters
As Wesley’s Tenancy Services Advisor, you’ll be the steady connection between tenants, the Housing Operations Manager, and the support network around each household. You’ll make sure tenancies run smoothly, problems are handled respectfully, and every interaction reflects Wesley’s commitment to fairness, dignity, and partnership.

Your mahi will include
  • Managing tenancy agreements, rent collection and arrears processes.
  • Conducting inspections and ensuring Healthy Homes and legislative compliance.
  • Walking alongside tenants: providing advice, resolving issues, and supporting sustained tenancies.
  • Handling rent arrears, documentation, Tribunal matters, and general tenancy administration.
  • Collaborating with Wesley’s housing, finance, maintenance and community teams.
Most of your work will be based at Wesley’s Naenae site in Lower Hutt, with workspace options available across the wider Wellington region.

What you’ll bring
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
  • Strong people skills and a calm, respectful communication style.
  • Experience supporting customers, clients, whānau, or community groups.
  • Confidence navigating detailed processes and keeping tidy records.
  • A willingness to learn tenancy legislation, compliance, and systems (full training provided).
  • A full driver licence and solid digital literacy.

If you’ve never worked in housing before, that’s okay, the hiring manager is excited to teach and develop someone who shows the right attitude, curiosity, and care for people.

What Wesley offers
Wesley Community Action is known for its warmth, community spirit, and long‑standing commitment to supporting kaimahi. Their culture is built on manaakitanga, collective learning, and doing the mahi with heart.

You’ll enjoy:
  • A salary between $75,000–$85,000, depending on skills and experience.
  • A staff vehicle is available for work use, helping you move between visits and sites.
  • Professional development, supervision, and opportunities to grow in a kaupapa Te Tiriti environment.
  • A supportive, people‑first workplace with kai, aroha, and genuine connection.
