Beyond Recruitment is supporting Te Tari Taiwhenua (DIA) in finding a Director of Property to join the Property Team in their newly established Workplace Services Group.

As the director of Property you will provide strategic leadership, oversight and management of DIA’s complex property portfolio, change leadership and ensure the successful delivery of the Property team’s work programme. They lead and manage:

  • service outcomes for the Department across all the buildings in the DIA portfolio both owned and leased sites
  • the assessment of the current state of compliance across all sites under the Property portfolio and all services managed by Property
  • all-of-Department processes to ensure the asset base is effectively managed, evaluated and monitored, and provide information and analysis to support ELT decision making on assets.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the Property team through a change in operating model
  • Providing leadership and direction to the Property team, setting outcomes and monitoring overall progress towards those outcomes
  • Leading and overseeing the Department’s property portfolio, agenda and direction, ensuring strategic and operational functions work effectively together
  • Managing Property assets efficiently and in a manner that ensures compliance with relevant legislation and DIA policies
  • Developing and maintaining effective working relationships across DIA to ensure a thorough understanding of branches and their support requirements
  • Actively participating in cross-agency Property initiatives and governance groups to enhance customer services across government and position Internal Affairs as a key contributor
  • Building capability and driving performance within your team by ensuring the implementation of development plans and through providing learning opportunities and effective coaching and mentoring of individual team members

You will bring to this role:

  • Proven experience in leading strategy development and business planning and reporting processes in multi-faceted organisations
  • Experience in leading though and embedding change
  • Financial management and strategic planning experience 
  • Sound understanding of Property Operations business requirements 
  • Commercial savvy
