We’re partnering with a nationally significant organisation. They’re looking for an ICT Category / Procurement Specialist to join their high‑performing commercial team on a fixed‑term parental leave cover through to February 2027 (with potential extension).

The Role

As an ICT Category / Procurement Specialist, you’ll provide commercial, sourcing and supplier‑management support across the organisation’s IST/ICT portfolio, covering software, hardware, licences and services.

Reporting into experienced commercial leaders, you’ll assist with end‑to‑end procurements, support category strategy execution, and contribute to performance reporting and supplier relationship management. Depending on experience, you may also lead smaller procurements independently.

This role offers exposure to enterprise‑scale ICT procurement within a large, nationally critical organisation known for strong systems, governance and process maturity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support (and at times lead) end‑to‑end ICT procurements across software, hardware and services
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and strategic suppliers
  • Assist with category plans, market analysis, procurement documentation and commercial evaluations
  • Contribute to supplier performance tracking, including reporting, reviews and data analysis
  • Support value tracking, cost mitigation initiatives and continuous improvement
  • Champion good procurement practice and contribute positively to a collaborative team culture

About You

You’ll bring a strong foundation in procurement, ideally with exposure to ICT sourcing and the confidence to support multiple priorities within a structured, enterprise environment.

Essential experience:

  • Practical experience supporting ICT or commercial procurements
  • Strong commercial judgement and analytical capability
  • Ability to engage effectively with stakeholders and suppliers
  • Experience coordinating multiple activities simultaneously
  • Excellent communication, organisation and attention to detail
  • Familiarity with procurement principles (sourcing, category management, demand management)

Nice to have:

  • Exposure to Government Procurement Rules or regulated environments
  • Experience in large, complex organisations
  • Background in ICT, professional services, utilities or critical infrastructure
  • Experience in value tracking, reporting or performance reviews
