The Company:

This well-known and long-standing NZ construction company has developed a reputation as being solid and dependable. They are one of the better structured contractors with a streamlined organisational culture. They have all inhouse labour rather than subcontract. They have a constant stream of new work and now require a Leading Hand level commercial carpenter to join the team and provide oversight and direction to a team of apprentices.

The Role:

This role would see you leading a team of carpenters, working with a site manager to coordinate site activities with some work on the tools as well. Such areas you will be involved with include managing sub-contractors, toolbox meetings, site safety, quality control and assisting with ordering materials. It does consist of some time on the tools but room to move off as you gain more experience. You will be training apprentices and showing them the ropes.

Your background:

The key background required for this role is a carpentry trade qualification and at least 4 years’ experience worked on commercial building sites.  You enjoy training and developing others. You are a natural communicator, an ability to step into more supervisory type duties, have top systems awareness, are deadline driven and take pride in the quality of your work.

Remuneration:

Salary:  $37 - $40 per hour + vehicle
