We are currently supporting one of our Local Government clients in a search for a People and Culture Advisor to provide sound professional advice and support to Managers and staff on all aspects of people management and development - This is a 7 month fixed term role initially based in Whangarei which could become a longer term position.
  
About the Role: Reporting to the P&C Manager, you’ll contribute to the development and delivery of human resources strategies that support the achievement of the organisation's objectives. One of the attractive elements of this role is that they have great work flexibility options.

Key responsibilities:
  • Provide advice and support on ER matters and assist managers through performance related issues.
  • Review and maintain all P&C processes and practices to ensure compliance with NZ legislation.
  • Ensure record keeping and information management systems are up to date, accurate and legally compliant.
  • Assist, as required, in relevant HR projects.
  • Assist with changes/variations to terms and conditions of employment for individual and collective employment agreements.
  • Maintain and update list of training required for each role in the organisation, ensuring they are aligned with achieving the organisation’s goals.
  • Oversight of the co-ordination of the core capabilities learning and development programme and P&C related aspects of the essential training.
  • Provide assistance during the annual remuneration review process including providing advice to managers.
 
Essential Background, Skills & Experience:
  • A degree qualification in relevant discipline (e.g. Business Management, Human Resources, Law or similar).
  • A minimum of 3 years in an HR Advisor role.
  • A good understanding of relevant employment legislation, practices and procedures.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft applications, specifically Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience developing and providing training.
  • Negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proven ability to personally deliver high quality outcomes with a professional, courteous, and enthusiastic attitude, and a team player.
  • A confident communicator who has the ability to communicate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated with a highly disciplined approach to managing own workload.
  • Practical, can-do nature with a solution-oriented focus with a good sense of humour.
