The Principal Cloud Data Engineer reports to the Head of ICT Architecture. The primary responsibilities of this data system focussed position are to:
- Lead key pieces of work the span across Data Platform and Data Product teams.
- Maintain connections with the network of Data Engineers, Cloud Engineers, Product Owners, Platform Owner and Principal Architects across Technology Services and Stats NZ product and project teams.
- Provide professional leadership and mentoring to other roles within Data Platform and Data Product teams.
- Lead the development of data products on the Stats Data Platform.
- Work with data product teams, project teams and data platform users to advance the data platform roadmap and supporting organisational capabilities.
The Principal Cloud Data Engineer is a key position to ensure the data products and solutions implemented on the Data Platform are fit for purpose and system-first orientated.
This role is an important part of the Data Platform team. Building and maintaining authentic relationships and delivering with and through others will be a significant part of this role.
It is expected the Principal Cloud Data Engineer will work in partnership with other Engineers, Architects and leaders across Technology Services and wider teams to ensure work is aligned and coherent for the clients' customers.
