- Programme Manager Industrial Relations
- 6-month rolling hourly rate contract
- Wellington
Busy government environment, with multiple bargaining currently and high interest from the Minister and Board.
This role is critical to keep the wheels moving and oversight of IR activities. This will be Programme leadership and oversight across all IR activities.
We are looking for:
- Programme Management
- Experience of machinery of government, dealing with Ministers (although the roles doesn’t directly interact, they need be able to advise on information/briefings)
- Manage relations with external agencies (PSC, Treasury, Health etc).
- Managing multiple stakeholders – internal and external oversight of development of IR papers, bargaining parameters, papers to internal governance groups/ELT/Board/Minister.
- Coordination across IR bargaining – knowing what’s going on, ensuring the team is one step ahead in planning and advice, work planning.
- Chair steering groups across a significant work programme on job evaluation with unions and CA implementation
- Provide forward thinking advice on emerging industrial issues, escalation points, risks and decision options, sequencing activities
Experience and Skills:
- Can work in time critical environment time
- Can change/pivot with little notice so need to be able to deal with the environment in a calm, organised manner.
- Understanding of industrial relations, collective bargaining, union engagement Internal workflow management – IR reporting, meetings etc
- This role is pivotal in bringing multiple streams of work together – ie conducting the orchestra.
- Ideally experience interfacing with Ministers.
