Lead Test Automation Engineer
Location: Auckland CBD | Hybrid workingPermanent
We’re seeking a hands-on Test Automation Leader to drive quality across web, API, integration, and performance testing within a modern digital environment.
You’ll be the go-to technical expert, embedding best practices, integrating testing into CI/CD pipelines, and mentoring testers to lift capability across the Agile teams. This role is ideal for someone who loves being close to the tools, has a shift-left mindset, and thrives on building robust, scalable automation frameworks.
What you’ll do:
Lead and evolve test automation strategies across web, API, integration, and performance testing.
Embed testing practices within CI/CD pipelines and promote a quality-first culture.
Mentor and uplift test capability across Agile squads.
Collaborate with developers, DevOps engineers, and product teams to ensure seamless delivery and continuous improvement.
Advocate for accessibility, usability, and performance as part of every release.
What you’ll bring:
5+ years’ experience working in an Agile environment.
Proven hands-on experience with test automation tools such as Playwright, Cypress, or similar.
Strong TypeScript programming/scripting skills.
Solid experience in API and integration testing using Postman or SOAPUI.
Practical knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, ideally in Azure DevOps.
A solid understanding of DevOps principles and shift-left testing practices.
Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) is a plus.
Excellent communication, coaching, and mentoring skills.
