Beyond Recruitment is proud to be partnering with the Ngā Iti Kahurangi programme within the Ministry of Education to appoint a Delivery Team Manager (Team Leader). This is a critical leadership role contributing to meaningful outcomes for ākonga, whānau, and communities across Aotearoa.
The Ngā Iti Kahurangi programme plays an essential part in shaping an education system that delivers excellent and equitable outcomes. As Delivery Team Manager, you will lead a high‑performing team responsible for operational delivery, project execution, financial and administrative processes, and contractor or partner‑managed activities.
The Opportunity
This role is ideal for an experienced people leader who thrives in a fast‑paced, service‑oriented environment. You will provide day‑to‑day direction, coaching, and performance oversight to a team of Delivery and Programme Specialists, ensuring high‑quality outputs and strong alignment to organisational priorities.
You will also act as a key point of escalation and the primary contact for schools, consultants, and external partners—ensuring issues are resolved quickly, workflows run smoothly, and projects meet required standards.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & People Management
- Lead, coach, and develop a high‑performing team
- Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive team culture
- Allocate resources effectively and manage performance
- Build capability through mentoring and professional development
- Ensure operational outputs and project deliverables are met to a high standard
- Oversee daily workflows, identify bottlenecks, and drive continuous improvement
- Support project planning, scheduling, and execution
- Act as a key contact for internal teams, contractors, and external partners
- Build strong, constructive relationships to support shared goals
- Manage contractor performance and ensure clear communication
- Oversee financial and administrative processing activities
- Ensure accuracy, compliance, and audit readiness
- Monitor budgets and operational expenditure
- Contribute to programme planning and prioritisation
- Provide timely reporting on performance, risks, and progress
- Use data and insights to inform decision‑making
You will bring a strong blend of leadership, operational delivery, and relationship‑building capability.
- Proven experience leading teams in complex operational or project environments
- Experience in property or infrastructure (highly advantageous)
- Strong project or programme management skills
- Ability to develop and deliver integrated workplans
- Experience improving workflows and embedding organisational change
- A collaborative, calm, and solutions‑focused leadership style
- Strong understanding of public sector processes
- Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and equitable outcomes for Māori
