I am looking for a Senior FBP to assist a large Ministry. You will be responsible for  providing financial and operational support and advice to the senior management team to enable them make effective strategic decisions when prioritising the Vote’s departmental and non-departmental resources.

Duties of the role:

  • Provide senior technical expertise and advice to inform future decision making for work programmes that best support the delivery of the Government’s and Ministry priorities and objectives
  • Lead and support Ministry wide/sector wide approaches and ensure delivery and alignment of key work programmes
  • Facilitate and promote business partnering within the team and across Corporate Services
  • Foster a continuous improvement culture within the team to deliver transactional and process efficiencies to stakeholders
  • Lead, plan and manage the annual budget and budget update processes for your directorate(s) to ensure budgets are robust, and accurately reflect work plans
  • Plan and manage month-end management processes to ensure financial results reflect the business operations, forecasts are accurate, and financial performance reporting focuses on relevant information to support timely decision making
  • Research, assemble and analyse historical, current and projected financial data for use in planning, reporting and operational management decision making, including for new initiatives and investment proposals as required
  • Support tier 2 and 3 managers to evaluate investment opportunities through financial modelling and support advice to the Ministry Investment Committee and/or Business Unit funding boards

Essential experience, skills and qualities:

  • Qualified as a Chartered Accountant or equivalent professional qualification
  • Demonstrate ability to analyse and interpret complex issues and information and able to present in simple and clear ways to enable effective decisions
  • An understanding of machinery of government and health system operation
  • Proven experience in working within a culture of continuous business improvement
