Data Engineer – 24-Month Fixed Term
Location: Wellington
Are you a hands-on Data Engineer with a passion for building robust data models and working in modern cloud environments? We’re seeking a skilled professional to join a transformation programme that’s reshaping how services are delivered across New Zealand.
About the Role
You’ll be part of a collaborative team designing and building data assets that support analytical and reporting needs across the organisation. This role is deeply embedded in Agile delivery and involves working closely with analysts, business groups, and technical teams to develop and maintain data pipelines and models that drive strategic and operational decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop dimensional data models using Kimball methodology
- Build and manage data pipelines in a Snowflake environment
- Translate raw data into structured, accessible models using SQL and Informatica
- Collaborate across teams to break down tasks into features and stories
- Apply best practices in data management, change integration, and stewardship
- Support Agile development cycles from design through to implementation
Must-Have Skills & Experience
- Proven hands-on experience with Snowflake data warehousing platform
- Strong expertise in Kimball dimensional data modelling
- Proficiency in SQL and Informatica for data transformation and modelling
- Solid understanding of Agile principles and the system development lifecycle
- Ability to communicate clearly, solve complex problems, and manage multiple priorities
