We’re seeking an experienced Senior Full Stack Java Developer to join a small, agile product team supporting a critical public-facing system. This is a hands-on role focused on maintaining and enhancing a secure portal and backend application used by thousands of users across New Zealand.

About the Role:
You’ll be working closely with another developer to support and improve a Java-based portal and backend system. The front-end uses the Wicket framework, while the backend is built with JSP and Java. You’ll contribute to new functionality, system upgrades, and ongoing maintenance, all within a collaborative and agile environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Full stack software development, including enhancements and maintenance.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and sprint planning.
  • Write and maintain unit and integration tests.
  • Prepare and deploy software releases across environments.
  • Ensure documentation and user stories are complete and high quality.
Skills & Experience:
  • Extensive experience with Java (Java 8).
  • Solid front-end skills: HTML, JavaScript, CSS.
  • Experience with Spring / Spring Boot.
  • Strong understanding of Web Services and XML.
  • Good knowledge of SQL (DB2 experience a plus).
  • Familiarity with WebSphere and/or OpenShift is desirable.
  • Experience with Wicket is a bonus but not essential.
