Senior Technical Business Analyst
Location: Wellington
6-month contract starting in January and runs until 30th June 2026
About the Role
We’re looking for a highly skilled Senior Technical Business Analyst. This role goes beyond standard BA responsibilities, requiring someone who can navigate complex technical landscapes, influence product thinking, and ensure user needs remain at the heart of delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Quickly understand technical complexities and how components fit together, while keeping user experience front and centre.
- Work within product delivery teams to influence product practices at both team and cross-team levels.
- Collaborate across multiple government agencies, programmes of work, and BAU teams to ensure successful technical product delivery.
- Ensure functional solutions align with business context and address real problems not just isolated features.
- Analyse and refine backlog items, manage dependencies, and support clear delivery outcomes.
- Coordinate across technology, operational, and business teams to keep delivery aligned and on track.
- Work closely with the Product Owner and Digital teams to translate user and business needs into actionable items of value.
About You
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a Senior position.
- Proven experience as a Technical Business Analyst in complex environments.
- Strong understanding of product delivery practices and ability to influence at multiple levels.
- Comfortable working across agencies and managing interdependencies.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to balance technical detail with business context and user needs.
- Must be a NZ Citizen or NZ Permanent Resident and be eligible to obtain NZ Security Clearance.
